Hey friends, welcome back to another blog. Hope y’all had an amazing week because my weekend was super fun!! Today’s blog is like the previous one, I’m going to express my views on “saying no to things” and how it affects our creativity. The ideas/ thoughts in this blog are original as I got them while swimming today; this is going to be a short one so enjoy and lemme know your views in the comments section below!!
Ok, so let’s say, there’s a boy Arnav (example)! Arnav is the type of guy who has a huge friend circle (which isn’t bad) and goes to every party, that’s his number 1 priority. He not only socializes 3-4 times a week physically but also wastes hours on his socials talking to 10 friends, asking them how was their day and so many irrelevant questions. Arnav has the space in his brain to function as well as store all this, why wouldn’t he? His brain wants this right, this is fun for him, and all of this releases dopamine. He doesn’t enjoy working out, he can’t focus, he tries to think but get’s distracted easily, he wants peace but his brain doesn’t let him, it’s flooded with thoughts of different people and their lives. Little does he realize, that he doesn’t have space in his own brain to think about himself as a person, his future, his current self, his goals, his family, love, and ambitions. Because of this, he can’t think of anything creative, he can’t think about what’s necessary and important and he’s in a trap.
Take a minute, stop reading right now. Close your eyes and ask yourself “am I an arnav“ don’t lie to yourself, be honest.
By now you would’ve had your answer.
Below are the reasons, why you should have a lot of time for yourself and this will only happen when you say “no“ to things:
Saying no to things, not meeting people, and having no interaction with anyone is key because when you allow yourself time to sit and do nothing, you do get bored but this is the time when you start thinking creative, valuable, and out of the box stuff.
You can never sit down and be like, "Oh now it's time to be creative, let me get a pen and paper." NO, this is not how it always works unless you're doing deep work. The most creative thoughts come when you're having a bath, working out, sitting and doing nothing, studying, focusing, etc. If you notice, all of these have one thing in common and that is they are for US, it is our time where no one distracts us and we're laser-focused. This is when I get ideas about blogs and so many more things. But again, for this, my brain needs to be free, and it’s free when it has nothing to think about but only important stuff and this happens when I don’t think about stuff that’s not important.
If you use Instagram every day for hours, your brain will be preoccupied with things like thinking about other people, drawing comparisons, and even wondering about other people's lives. NO. This is incorrect. I'm not arguing that not using Instagram is the solution; instead, use it smartly with set limits. You'll also begin to feel more patient, and you'll begin to enjoy yourself more once you draw that line.
That concludes today's blog, thanks for sticking with it to the finish... I know that was a quickie, but I had a thought and decided to share it with you!!! Have a great week, and I'll see you soon!
Very creative thinking and reflecting about yourself is the best way to make improvements in yourself. Well Done Arnav.
